Private Instruction 4 years and up
2009-2010

Private lessons are the cornerstone of our educational offerings, and we welcome students of all ages, abilities and levels of experience. The School believes that the right match of student and teacher is vital to a student’s progress, pleasure of learning and enjoyment of music. After an initial consultation, the student is assigned to a faculty member whose teaching style most closely complements the student’s learning style and personality. New students are asked to complete a registration form and contact the office to schedule lessons.

Private tuition includes:
w Weekly private lessons (16 weeks in Term I, 15 weeks plus a workshop week in Term II))
w Workshop Week in place of one lesson during Spring semester
w Multiple student recitals and concerts
w Special workshops and master classes
w Written progress report in Term I
w Phone conference evaluation in Term II

Private Lesson Locations
Private lessons are held in Kennard House and in the following Brookline Public Schools: Baker, Brookline High School, Devotion, Driscoll, Heath, Lawrence, Lincoln, Pierce and Runkle. Lessons are also offered at the Brookline Senior Center.

Instruction available for:
Accordion, Baritone/Euphonium, Banjo, Bassoon, Cello, Clarinet, Composition, Creative Movement, Drum Set, Flute, Early Childhood, French Horn, Guitar & Bass Guitar, Harp, Harpsichord, Marimba, Music Technology, Oboe, Percussion, Piano, Recorder, Saxophone, Theory, Trombone, Trumpet, Ukelele, Viola, Violin, Vocal Coaching and Voice.

Workshop Week - April 12-17, 2010
During the week of April 13th, all students who take private lessons will participate in a one-hour workshop with BMS faculty in lieu of their regular lesson. Students are placed into groups based on ability level and age, and will be prepared for the workshop by their private teachers. Workshop sessions will be one hour long and all will take place at Brookline Music School's Kennard House.
